Summer is here, and you’ve probably heard everyone talking about how they’re working on their “beach bods” and whippin’ themselves into shape. That’s all fine and dandy, but you’re admittedly stumped on how to get there. Do you already have a workout regime? Fantastic! Here is a little somethin’ somethin’ to switch things up and keep your body guessing. Muscle memory is a real thing folks, so if you’ve hit a plateau (or, if you’ve been busting your fanny in the gym and have not been seeing results for a while), try a couple moves from below to shake things up.
This workout will target your abs from every direction, upper and lower back, inner and outer thighs, shoulders, chest, biceps, booty, legs, and hips. A real bang for your buck! Repeat the circuit three times for a full body workout.
Need some cardio in your life? Throw in one minute intervals of shadow boxing, jump rope, or jumping jacks between rounds, or between strength exercises if you want to feel the burn! Circuit work outs are great whether you have a little or a lot of time to spare.
Only have ten minutes? Speed through the workout in one round with super sets (no rest in between each move). This will elevate your heart rate while working your muscles.
Have an hour? Repeat it three times with longer bursts of cardio thrown in the mix.
The wonderful thing about exercise is that you often only need your own body weight to complete the moves. That’s what this circuit focuses on the most, aside from the weighted oblique bends and wide-legged squats, which of course can both be done without weights. See? Lots of options (to make you a sweaty mess)!
Remember, a mix of cardio and resistance workouts are going to be the most beneficial for shaping your body, especially combined with clean, whole foods. Abs are made in the kitchen, you know!
But you don’t want to deprive yourself either. Treat yourself to a healthy, relatively indulgent snack every once in a while (chocolate covered strawberries anyone?)! We’re workin’ on our summer bods here!
